Swapping from 06 to the older 01-04??

Asked by Zombified Mar 10, 2020 at 03:23 AM about the 2006 Ford Escape XLT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay I, unfortunately, had a wreck up in the mountains
during a storm we're I flipped & rolled my escape. The photo
attached is from being back in TX before the accident.

Now I know I have frame damage & I'm looking for another
Escape that all my parts (Engine, Trans, &, etc) can be used
& put into the newer one I acquire.

Now my concern is this intelligent Ford system on the 05
newer escapes where the computer isn't as aggressive with
engaging the 4x4 system to the tires & that there isn't a
switch to manual engage the 4x4 system neither.
From my research & understanding that the older 01-04
ford escapes have a switch to manually engage the 4x4
system when needed. So would the transfer case be the
only piece that would be different between the two vehicles
or am I even further limited on my search for another
escape???
Or should I turn tell & run just to a new call??

FYI. My motor is less than two years old with good
maintenance just don't wanna leave life behind

2005 to 2007 to put your equipment into another Escape, Mariner or Tribute. But I would scrap the vehicle, and sell the engine and get a new one. Not worth the searching and wrenching IMO. The Escape aren't worth much, and rust buckets if you in snow country.
