my 2002 ford escape headlights stay on when car is off

when i turn my car  off my headlights stat on i have to unhooked the  battery to turn off.

You might try unplugging the fuse under the hood. My brake pedal "stopper" broke. Hard to get in that small area under steering column but check the break if there is a ring of broken plastic.
