Interested in buying an '04 Chevy 2500HD 4X4 crew cab and would like to hear about any pros/cons concerning the truck.
they are good trucks- the diesel will pull more weight than the gas (up to 17000 lbs. properly equipped with 5th wheel hitch) and will also get better mileage- the down side is that the diesel will cost more up front, and the fuel is still a little more expensive than gas. in the gas, the 3.73 will get you better mileage than the 4.10 (look for the codes in the glove box on a white or silver tag with black at the top - the codes are in alphabetical order....GT4 is 3.73 rear and GT5 is 4.10 rear) the 4.10 rear will tow about 2000 lbs. more (more power) the diesel comes standard with the 3.73 rear (the only one available).
pros - they are bad asss trucks. cons - they cost you a lot of money because you always want to do something new to it, but this con turns into a pro once done. I had an 03', love them.
This truck has the LLY Duramax engine and they are known to overheat when towing heavy.
