how do I disconnect the chime for the motor, where do I install a new oil line for manual oil gauge on block.

Asked by inspector36 Dec 10, 2014 at 12:24 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: General

My oil pressure gauge drops below 5 pounds when at an idle, but as soon as I accelerate the pressure goes up to normal readings.  The oil is full, and there is no engine noise with low pressure. The issue is I think the screen below the sending unit is blocked , and I want to install a manual oil pressure gauge. My question is where do I put a new oil pressure line for the gauge on the block to get a accurate reading, and how do I disconnect the chime , because I cant stand that noise everytime I get to an intersection and the oil pressure drops to 5.

I had the same problem with mine, remove the pan and the oil pick up tube has an "0" ring that goes bad and sucks air , where the tube turns 90°at the front of the motor, you can't miss it , there's only one break in that tube.
