2003 silverado TCS

Asked by FaganRides17 Nov 02, 2019 at 12:34 AM about the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RWD

Question type: General

I have a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado single cab... it is
a base model and I can not figure out how to turn
off TCS, do not tell me "if there isn't a button it
doesn't have it" because I have been in situations
where it would not let the tires spin on full throttle
in mud. (It may be stabilitrak, I don't know anything
about it) there is no button to be found when it
would usually be (left of the steering wheel beside
air vent located closest to driver door). If someone
could please at least tell me what fuse to pull I
would appreciate it.

Sounds like you're talking about "Autotrac" (4 wheel drive models) or the Locking Rear Axle feature formally known as Posi traction (2 wheel drive models). Neither can be disabled or turned off. Hope that helps. Jim

The traction control system is programmed into the trucks PCM. There is no fuse for the TCS by itself. If it is a burnout you are attempting to do, the PCM limits the amount of torque under any condition. Torque and wheel speed is restricted even further when brake pedal is pressed. This is what is known as torque management.
