Why won't my sons truck accelerate when he gives it gas

Asked by Oct 01, 2016 at 03:16 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Short Bed 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son was driving his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 5.3 litre engine.  He
stepped on his gas pedal and the truck would not move.  The truck only has
89,000 miles on it.  We are the original owners.  After he cut the truck off and
back on, it did fine.  Why would it do this?

Could be an intermittent in the accelerator pedal sensor, you might try running a code check just too see if it was stored in memory, if not you can have a live data check performed at a shop of your choice and see if the tech can pickup on anything out of specs.

Thanks, we will try that and see.
