Electrical nightmare

Asked by Vic Jul 13, 2018 at 11:19 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Silverado Z71.
My blinkers are acting up. When the
daytime lights or the headlights are
engaged, when I use the turning signal, all
the lights flash. The brake light flashes
along with the turning lights . If I turn left
the right side flashes but not as bright
same goes if I turn right. When I manually
turn of the headlights and or daytime
lights. The turning signal lights tend to
flash faster when I press on the brakes.
When I press on the brakes period, with
out any turn signal. They all light up
dimmed.
All my lights are new, no blown fuse.
The weirdest part is my back up lights do
not turn on at all and they are brand new.
I unplugged and plugged the block under
the rear bumper after reading some other
peoples comments and still have the same
problem.
WTF!!! Lol

The rear frame horns completely rusted out so the ground separated from its connections. The ground is originally placed above the spare wheel holder. I drilled a small self tapping screw under the truck bed rail which still had a good strong ground current. Now my lights all work!!
