Upgrade or retrofit wheel hub / bearing assembly
This is a 2001 Chevy C1500. I run large tires which cause my hub assemblies to go bad frequently. I noticed that on the 3/4 & 1 ton and 4x4 models, the hubs look more heavy duty. will any of these fit on my truck? I noticed that there may be an ABS wiring issue. I am not concerned with a different lug pattern.
I have seen a few off-roaders put a 3/4 or even 1 ton suspensions under thier rigs, some of them I talk too said that the job went better when they had a donor truck and they did front as well as the rear, of course there were lifts and other things upgrades they have done too, like air lockers, independent brakes, etc. so it can be done. Hope this helps.
No they are not going to fit. Your hub assembly has 3 bolts to hold it in, the heavy duty hub assembly has 4 bolts holding the hub assembly. You would have to change out the front and rear-ends from a Crew Cab that has 9900 lb. gross vehicle weight to get the heavy duty bearings.
You would have to swap the entire axle assembly to get the heavy duty hubs and bearings. If you are running wheels or spacers with a lot of offset then that is probably the problem.
