my car can not move when i press the gas pedal

Why does my car fail to move fast when i press the
gas pedal to the maximum level especially on a
hilly place.?honestly i can not over take when i
want to.when i press the gas pedal the
speedometer goes upto 7 but when its not
responding.its a mark 2 ordinary

Begin with cable inspection (what year MK II)... or the ETC are you opening the throttle plate 100% common isssue.
