My headlights on my Toyota hilux 1999 keep turning on randomly and draining my battery

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 Toyota hilux 2wd, and I have
been havin a problem with my headlights,
not my low beams, my actual headlights.
Each time I see them on, I have to turn the
switch on and then off again, sometimes
they turn back on straight away. It's now
drained my battery and I've unplugged my
headlights for now but i believe there is still
power running through the wires. Is there
anyway I can temporarily fix this till I get a
auto electrician to look at it?

Remove the fuse(s) for the headlight circuit..so you can drive it to the repair center without shorting or draining the battery.
