i vs li vs il

Looking for a BMW i see most have only a i but a few have a li or a  il what
does this mean

You must be looking at 7 Series BMW's, the i is a standard designation. The Li stands for the Longer wheelbase

i= Fuel injected, iL= long wheelbase, Li= newer designation for long wheelbase.
