The Barracuda was actually sold under the Plymouth nameplate, and only 23, 433 were built for the 1964 model year, they were competing with the newly introduced Ford Mustang right then, and got lost in the dust by the Mustang. There is no breakdown as to how many Barracuda 4 speed cars were built. There are no breakdowns as to how many Barracuda cars were manufactured with the 225 cubic inch six cylinder engine, or with the 273 cubic inch V8 engine.

The parents of one of my high school buddies had one. It had a push button automatic. The buttons were on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. The car was actually a fast back Plymouth Valiant.

yep, I remember those push button "shifters" Notorious for lasting not long, and by coincidence, I too, he was the Dad of as high school buddy had one. This was 1968 or '69. Somewhere around there One day he pushed "D" and the button went in and stayed there. He made a 'custom tool' from a paper clip. bent it just so, to pull it back out and had to use it everytime, hung it from the mirror

buddy of mine had a 63 dart with a push button. he built his own console and remounted the push button on it

the push button crap is long gone, thank God. The 4 speed manual, which many people still can't drive, unfortunately has gone by the way side too, thanks to the torqueflite, and other automatic weenies.
