I'm having trouble with gas acceleration on my 1974 nova

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay so I have a 1974 nova with a 6 cylinder
4.1 engine in it. We've been restoring it and
I'm having some problems with the gas
acceleration. Its standard, and it starts up
well, no issues but once it's on the road and I
switch to second gear, right before, it starts
to accelerate as if I'm flooring it. I have no
vacuum leaks, I have a new accelerator
linkage, I also put new springs on the carb. I
dont know what it could be? Might be a long
shot but I'm a little desperate. Any thing
would help. Thanks and God bless.

Check and see if the butterfly in the carb is loose. Make sure the linkage is not hanging up on something.
