Is there a way to get repair or service info with the vin number?

I recently got a PPI (pre purchase inspection), and I was so glad I did. How ever
it would seem to me that the service info would have helped as well.

You can use the VIN to order a CarFax. I don't think dealers will release old service records but you could try. Perhaps if the owner authorized them to.
