what would make an engine shut off when the throttle is advanced with the truck in gear ?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck starts and idles perfectly. Throttle can be advanced to full with transmission in park and engine will run perfect. As soon as throttle is touched with truck in gear the engine stops dead.  OBD II reader show no fault codes. I changed the throttle position sensor and the transfer case mounted output speed sensor with no change in problem.

you should always post your question with make model and year of vehicle, sometimes there are problems that can be vehicle specific. anyway, check for vacuum leaks. with a cold engine running, spray carb cleaner around in there and see if the idle changes.
