I have a 2003 Chevy impala,i had the fuel pump replaced .But after that now it's shutting off whenever i put gas in it but it starts right back up ,but if i wait a couple of days it drives fine again

Changed all those things and it's still acting up? Time to quit guessing and find a real mechanic- or get a better car-

Why is it so hard to start my car? I have 98,000 miles on it and I just had the timing chain and fuel pump and fuel filter replaced. I can't get it started usually in the cold months. It keeps turning over but it takes sometimes 45 minutes of trying to start it before it gets started. I have tried using starting fluid but it still takes a long time. Once I get it started it is fine for the rest of the day. It will start right up. But if I let it sit overnight it will have the same problem in the morning. I also just put a new alternator and battery in it and all the trying to start it is just wearing the battery down to where I have to hook the jumper cables up to another car to try and get it started. OK i'm stumped. I have a 2001 ford explorer(please keep comments about fords to yourself ). I've had 4 episodes where i was driving along with no issues and the even though i am excellerating the car stops running and the stalls out. Once i pull it to the side of the road and try to start it it back fires and qcts like it it out of gas but if you wait 30 plus minutes it will start and run for a bit longer then repeats itself a couple more times but then it will runs for days until it does it again. The check engine light is not on but the check gas cap is on. we replaced the gas cap and it is still on. The first time this happened I had it towed and the mechanic tightened the serpentine belt and fixed the manifold gasket. Does anyone have any ideas???? 14 Answers

I am having problems starting the truck. Right now if the vehicle sits for a couple of hours it will not start unless I spray some starter fluid in the TB. THere are no diag codes. Have checked / replaced the MAF, MAP PVC. But once the vehicle is started it runs like a champ. If it does not sit long it starts right up. Thought maybe it was a tank of bad gas have run fuel injector cleaner thru the tank. Have not replaced the fuel filter yet. Any suggestions........ 1 Answer
