There was some hokey switches sensors, and many possible issues with those, I rode in one similar, the guy had to jek the shifter down to keep it from dying, then play around before the light turned green to have it start off in first, stuck in top gear would be his symptom, we scrapped the whole beast, piece by piece. sad, we had named it stanley, because it steamed all the time.

pontiacforum.com, you can find lots of specific information, but notice how they specify? make, model, year, engine size, trans type ? ..........I like my answer better for simplicity, it makes you think without having to listen to someone else and bother to reject their data. What does it do in reverse? why? beuteeful, thanks to my prick of a teacher. giving credit where credit is due.

Thats funny story but i got to admit your question was a bit agitating, because i did just explain what car did and it was only in forward drive, asking what it did in reverse is like asking what you were doing while you were sleeping lol

They used to teach me that way, they are all limping now, hahahaha no, but seriously, I was was wondering what car it was and what engine and trans before, then .i thought, well, the car thinks its in 3rd but he's idling, my pea brain jumped to ..."shift" so thats fair enough. y'kno, the tcc solenoid has had some bad press for activating the lockup torque converter, doggin the engine when you want the car to idle or be in first or coming up through the gears. I dont know if you had a code for that or what, but the mlp, or TR would say gear selected, but not necessarly. control the TCC, now that i have some idea what continent the car was conceived and slapped together. and by folks who speak what language, and might even get lunch breaks. makes a difference rather than just sayin, "the car" now we at least know its a j-car FWD and 'mercan, m-kay
