I have a 1998 pontiac sunfire 2.2 liter 4 cylinder, the cooling fan will not come on unless you turn the heater on, we replaced the thermostat and it still isn't working, do you have any suggestions?

Bad coolant temp sensor. does the fan come on when you turn on the AC?
