anyone out there change a timing chain on a 2003 2.2 DOHC Cavalier
Just changed out my timing chain ,I have rotated. the engine by hand but cant get the marks to line back up again
Double check no. 1 at TDC on the compression stroke, if it doesn't line up then it isn't in right.
Need some more information. How many times did you rotate the crankshaft? Typically the camshaft will turn slower than the crankshaft. You may have to turn the crankwheel 2 or 4 times to get the camshafts back in the TDC position for number 1 cylinder. Be CAREFULL turning the crank. If you have misaligned the cams, the valves will open when they shouldn't and there is a risk of bending them against the top of the pistons. If you feel ANY restriction, stop and reverse the rotation. The sparkplugs should be removed to prevent any compression pressure from building up.
