What's from with my temperature?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've got another problem. I've only
noticed it during colder days but
whenever I drive after about 4
minutes the temp gauge starts going
up  (past the mid line) until the white
line and sometimes into the red.
After its in the red for anywhere for
30 seconds to 1 minute the temp
gauge goes back down to normal.

Your thermostat is going bad or you're low on coolant. Check your coolant level when your engine is cool. If low, fill and see if problem is gone. If not, replace your thermostat. Also, check to see if your cooling fans are kicking on. If you drive it again and notice it getting above the half mark, lift the hood and see if your cooling fans are on. If not, you may need to replace your temp sensor.
