96 4Runner hesitates or gallops when given gass. Sounds like it has clogged injectors and hesitates when given gas when running at low rpms. Was suggested to replace mass air flow sensor ans idle air control valve. Any ideas

If your mass air flow sensor is acting up you should have a check engine light and be able to read a code. If this is a "since the last fill-up" problem it could be bad gas... or a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pressure regulator acting up. Dry gas, octane boosters and fuel filters are fairly inexpensive. I would try these before buying other parts.

I replaced the mass air flow sensor. Runs better, but still hesitates when accelerating. Put fuel injector cleaner in and it idles high until I press gas pedal to get the rims to drop to750-950 trams. Gas mileage not good since it idles so high.
