We have a 97 Pontiac Grand Am with a6 cylinder engine replaced fuel pump because car stopped running and we thought that was the problem but it still running it doesn't seem to be getting adequate spark we tested wiring coil pack sensors need advice also there is no security lights in car maybe because it's a late model 96 I'm not sure it does crank for a minute but it doesn't run well seems to have a hard time and shuts off

when you just turn the key on, with the igniiton engaged, but not into the start position, does the gasoline pump through the fuel rail? can you hear the fuel pump working?
