what is the point of concept cars?

Concept cars, in thier true form, are used to be displayed at auto shows to feel out what the public either likes, or dislikes about the vision the car company putting them forward sees in thier future. They will take feedback from the car, and then design thier production models based on what the public has said about there cars... therefore hopefully making a car the public will be more prone to buying becuase it's built (supposedly) the way the public wants it.
