Transmission cable

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son has problems taking it out of gear,he
has to leave it in neutral to start,and it is
hard to put in drive or reverse it is on the
column.

Disconnect cable from transmission and see if it works freely,That will tell you if it's the cable or the transmission pivot.

    I have a 1998 Chevy c/k 1500 and the transmission went. I found a 1997 700r transmission and am wondering if that would work in my truck? If not then what would?
