My cadillac is not starting, batt fully çharged , check charging system came on while driving. Help me please.

Asked by Bee Aug 17, 2014 at 04:48 PM about the Cadillac DTS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i tried jumping the caddy and it did
not work. I let it sit for a few hours
and it started(no jumper cables). I
drove it and it said check charging
system W/ batt light on but no
hesitation at all. Drove more and it
said battery saver active. I made it
home as i was pulling up i heard a
strange ratiling noise as if it was a
pully. I turned the car of and started
it back up and the sound went away.
Only to wake up and the car wont
start again. I took the battery to get
çhecked and charged and the batt is
good. Put it back in and the problem
remains. Please help man down. Any
way to cheap fix?

Check all connections and alternator belt. Rattle makes me think you will find an issue with the belt, tentioner, idler pulley or alternator.

Thx dan ill try. I meant to mention that i have no under gaurd either and we had a flood the other day and i road thru some pretty deep water could that have shorted something. And what could it have been? I called my mechanic and he said alt. Smh

Alternator being bad will not keep it from starting in most cases. But bad/wet connections will. Plus deep water can wipe out a starter. First tho inspect for the noise you heard. Bad belt, pulley, ect. On front of engine.

The car Needs to have more of a charge on it ...When the Battery Voltage has dropped to 11v - 9v.....9.3 v (I'm no machanic but this is what happened to me and am using my experience as my source for this..) the Windows. Car seat adjustment... interior lights Door Locks. .Will not work properly. Try a quick Boost..( or) portable quick charge devices work Excellent... can quickly connect to battery and gives enough power to Boost your car immediately...or just clamp on the booster cables and the quick charge device gives you enough power to raise your Window."* Importantly.** You will be able to pop the trunk Open. .otherwise. No Trunk Access...Key is Useless. Doesn't have key entry ..remote and inside driver side...I know...I was like ...uh oh...you need to calm down...''...hope this helps
