Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was told that the car I am interested in has low compression which may be the cylinders or piston by the owner, when he took it to the Mercedes dealership it started with a new battery they put in. He was told that the car had low compression.

Repair will be expensive. If it's a piston ring it's engine out, head off, pistons out. Then you have to look at the inside of the engine to make sure the cylinder liners aren't damaged. Cheaper to find a new engine and have it fitted probably.
