1992 dodge ram 250 or d250 truck starting problem or wire problem

Asked by GuruM651Y Jun 26, 2020 at 08:27 PM about the Dodge RAM 2500

Question type: General

I have a 1992 dodge ram 250 or d250 with a 360ci motor 5.9l, the relay switch
clicks in the black relay box, the starter clicks but doesnt turn the motor over.
But when the motor is cold or sitting for 10 hrs it starts up good , but once it
runs for approximately 25 min and at operating temperature and about to go it
shuts off. What's new on it is cap and rotor, spark plugs wire, spark plug, fuel
filter with pump,  solenoid, alternator, and fuse. Checked all the grounds
cleaned off and battery terminals. Any help is needed so It can run like a champ
again. Plz and thank you
Also I heard that the starter solenoid over heats or heat soaked because of the
exhaust is 4 inches away or in front of the stater is that true.

You have 2 different issues. 1. Not cranking. If u checked all battery cables and are all good clean and tight and starter clicks when engine is normal operating temp, replace starter. Engine shutting off after it starts when it warms up, Check fuel pressure, if fuel is ok, check spark. If no spark, replace the pick up module inside the distributor.
