How do I gain access to my truck with battery removed and hood closed?

Asked by Guru6H8Z7 Mar 22, 2020 at 10:38 PM about the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I removed my battery for winter storage then locked the truck, not realizing I
have no power for my remote door control to open it. Yes that’s dumb. What
might you recommend to gain access to open the truck hood to put power
back to the truck power system.

Can you not use the key to unlock the door? If the door locks are too corroded from lack of use (like the ones on my car) then you might need to call a tow truck to come and unlock it for you (like I've done... twice...). Most of them are equipped to do that without damaging your vehicle. If you have a sliding rear window check to see if it happens to be unlocked.

Thank you for your recommendation. Yes I ended up calling a tow truck to unlock the vehicle. Booked an appt to have a new lock installed on the drivers door. Much appreciated.

Glad to hear its getting worked out. And as for feeling dumb, don't. I think most of us have a long list of things we've done that seemed like a good idea at the time but maybe weren't. My list of "dumb" ideas is probably much longer than yours. Take care.
