rear brake drums on a 2010 chevy silverado

I replaced the wheel cylinders and placed new springs and brakes . does the clip that goes between the adjuster wheel and the adjuster clip have to be there . I think that the clip is from factory it seems to fit better without it

on the 1989 chevy sometimes the bulb has two filaments and sometimes only one may be burnt out ..
