What could possibly be wrong with the A/C??

Asked by Cmiller8051 Apr 07, 2020 at 03:46 PM about the Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado 1500. We
replaced the A/C compressor, o-rings,
orffece tube, and dryer. We had the system
vacuumed and filled with Freon and it’s
holding a vacuum and everything. We then
changed the control module on the inside of
the dash. Still nothing. The clutch is not
engaging. What could it possibly be??

I think there is a fuse for that clutch assembly. I would check that too. If that is not it I would check at that location to see if the voltage is being supplied to that location. If not trace back from there. If that is not it I would check out the A/C temp control sensor adjustment again. If the temperature in the cabin does not require A/C it will not engage that clutch. You might put it on the windshield defrost setting too. It should then engage regardless of any temp sensor.

do the easy things 1 st check your high and limit switches simply jump across to see if the clutch will engage all power to the ac clutch goes thru these 2 switch's
