My 2003 l300 seat is forward and the buttons no longer work. Smells like a burnt motor/diode. How can I get it to retract?

Had to buy a used but good control. The seat would not move when I jumpered the motor directly to the 12 volt battery so I found a replacement switch. Must need the diods and electronics in the switch to work.
