Should I Buy a 2001 Jeep Cherokee?

Asked by Lookingforcars99 Jul 28, 2017 at 01:30 PM about the Jeep Cherokee

Question type: General

I am going into college and I would like to
know if buying a used 2000 or 2001 Jeep
Cherokee is worth it. I have heard they are
reliable but that gas mileage isn't the best,
and that they are expensive to
fuel/maintain. Is this true? What are your
opinions on this car, and is it worth the
buy? I really like it, but I want to make sure
it's efficient.

Run away, poor reliability and it's a 17 year old vehicle.

unreliable, gas thirsty, troublesome, and expensive to repair, I agree with Bob

It really depends on how well it has been maintained from previous ownership. Aiso, depending on mileage, even if it runs well and shifts well, other parts such as suspension, brakes, and electronics may be reaching their life expectancy. Take a little time and do some research, maintaining and mechanical repairs on a used vehicle today, will eat into your college funds quickly.

A 2001 Jeep Cherokee used? Are you kidding? Those were junk when they were new.
