Is My Transmission Failing?

Asked by Guru1C8RJ Sep 05, 2019 at 05:59 PM about the Subaru Forester

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi,
I drive a 2001 Subaru (manual transmission).  I have noticed recently that when
I push the clutch in, there is a loud clunk/pop, and the car lurches.  This only
happens when pushing the clutch in to shift between first and second gear.
This is so strange to me, because its happening when I push the clutch IN, not
when I let it out.  At first, this only happened every other day.  Now about a
week later, its happening almost every time I push the clutch in to shift out of
first or second.  About 6 months ago, I had the clutch replaced; it was a big fix
and expensive.  I don't know if this is a clutch or a transmission problem?

1 Answer

This might be a clutch problem but I would first make sure the clutch hydraulics are working properly.
