For older cars with carburetors: remove air cleaner and spray into carb. For throttle bodies: can either remove air plenum and spray into throttle body or open and remove air filter and spray into plenum. In either case use a tiny, TINY spurt of fluid, starting fluid can and will wreck an engine if you blast it in there - ESPECIALLY on newer plastic intakes. There's really no need for it in newer engines, address the underlying problem - lack of spark, air, or fuel pressure.
