Nissan ECM are usually trouble free unless they get wet, what was the code readout for diagnosis of a bad ECM. This style of system has a problem with the air flow sensor, I would try cleaning the sensor first then see how it runs.

Thanks Tennisshoes the second shop changed out the air flow sensor din't say what the code was they did find a new ecm installed it truck ran great but wouldn't shut off so they sent it back to be rebuild and the place where they got it said it was shot and could not be fix and can't find another ecm? any thoughts?

I have had a fair amount of good luck using auto wreckers to locate ECM's, might give it a try.

thanks again for your help have tried many a wrecking yard but can't seem to find a 1986 1/2 that is the only one we have been told will work have tried one out of a pathfinder and no go .Do you know what it would take to change it to a carb?
