weird sound, like grinding, hesitation starting

just had my manual tranny and clutch changed on my 2000altima, now when i go to
start my car it sounds like starter is hesitating, or grinding. Could they have damaged
something while changing transmission out

Starter may be bad,they did not hurt starter in change up.But they could have damaged fly wheel in which the starter engages to.Replace starter with new one ,if it still does it,replace damaged fly wheel,Best of luck
