Is it charging properly? Is the battery light on? How old is the battery? Sounds like you will be replacing the battery at a min. you might have a shorted cell and that's why your can't jump start it and the car runs bad. Voltage should be 12.4V for a fully charged battery, check with a voltmeter. Once you get it running what is the voltage across the battery? You can probe the negative and positive connections to the battery that is in the trunk under the hood on the passenger side.

I dont know if its charging properly. How can I check to see if it is charging properly? The battery light only comes on after im driving for a while. The battery is a brand new battery. I can jump start that car but once I take the cables off, the car shuts back down in a matter of seconds.

While the car is running put a voltmeter across the terminals, Should be 13-14V. if the alternator is charging properly.
