Why are mpg specs for the Toyota Prius models before 2008 so much better than those for 2008 forward?

Asked by Jul 23, 2015 at 01:53 PM about the Toyota Prius

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

The Prius models for 2007 and before, list about 60 mpg.  From 2008 forward, they list about 48 mpg.  Why?

Pre 2007 is still around 48, the source you are looking at I suspect is a typo.

Thanks for answering! I'm realizing that they've recently changed the specs, which is even more curious. Some time ago, they routinely indicated 60 mpg for the older models, everywhere I looked. Wonder what's going on there!
