2004 HD2500- purge valve apparently will not allow gas to flow from pump. How do I correct this?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

engine light comes on after ding on dash which states tighten fuel cap.  Bought a new fuel cap and keep it tight but the ding saying to tighten fuel cap continued.  The light for engine comes on usually after use of a quarter tank off of full.  Now you cannot put fuel in the truck. It pops off as soon as it starts running in. Assume purge valve damage.  Where is it located?

If you got to Ebay and type in "2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 gas filler neck" you will see the tube with a wire lead and a small vent tube. I would find the end of the wire lead and clean it. I would also make sure that the vent tube hasn't been pinched or crushed. I also checked out gas tanks for your truck and there appears to be two ports on one side. Your model may have a vent tube off from the side of the tank and not on the filler neck. Not sure, I have never looked under that year Chevy.

EVAP Canister Purge Solenoid Valve? there are 2 valves, most likely the one down under the truck by the gas tank
