1996 Chevy Caviler

My grandson recently picked up a 96 Caviler for me, the guy he bought it from
told him that it was running fine til the day it wouldn't do more than 30 mph.
Does anyone have any kind of idea what might have f*happened ?

have the cat.converter checked..also replace the fuel filter...these are ony a few things to check...you might get lucky.
