Is it coming from under the dash? A blend air door actuator will certainly do that.(temperature control) Does the heater work properly from HOT to COLD and back? The nylon gears inside the actuator get old and stripped and the system keeps trying to move the door so it will "click" every time it skips. Usually just the actuator and not too bad to get to. Just follow your ears!
