08 Hyundai Santa Fe slipping when in AWD low mph

Asked by MacKenzie Nov 18, 2022 at 12:44 PM about the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 08 Santa Fe which is in great condition for it's age, 74k
miles, repairs always made, it noticably slips when I am
driving slow when AWD is on. I'm not sure if slip is the
proper term, but it's what best describes it. It simply cuts
out then after pressing slightly harder on the gas it jerks
forward and catches and drives. Just wondering what this
could be..

Most all AWD vehicles have a little feeling of a slip especially during turns as the electronics catch up with different speed signals from each wheel speed sensor. I and my neighbor both have AWD vehicles of two different makes and there is one spot on our road that has a sharp left turn as your climbing a good incline and they both feel the same at exactly the same spot, a slight slip feeling, it just enough to make you think what was that, then it’s gone. They close this road if it snows, it’s that bad of a climb. So if it is just a slight feeling then it’s most like nothing to worry about but you you can actually feel and see a slip then its time for your favorite independent shop to check it out before it destroys the transfer case.

If the fluid is in good condition and at the proper level then see a shop you can trust , I'd stay away from the dealer . Could be a solenoid or synch gears or could be worn the F out
