your right, after many years or olds. ownership i'd say they are/were good motors, even the 403. the deisel ones(350), didn't quite catch on, but when does it ever. that motor was the last carb. motor to be put in a passenger car. not sure where you can get a rebuilt one, shouldn't be too hard though.

I'm pretty new to my cutty but I've known folks to get swaps/replacements from this site and have seen and heard good things. http://www.rebuilt-auto-engines.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/crate-engines.html?engine_gid=1372&name=&sid=1AlF2z2i4JZz5DX-21111264524.c5 This is the URL for the varios cutty options they have listed. hope this helps you out :)

thanks for the info. i bought my first cutlass about 25 years ago, it was a '75 S, 2 door with the L-34 Olds.350 in it. i've been wrenching on similiar cars off and on since then. i have like a ton of parts for these years. yeah, its probably true than a person could rebuild a chevy 350 for less money. time is more valuable to me then money, so i go for the olds. 455 motors and swap them into '75/'76 supremes. i can pick up a descent 455 out of a '73/'74 88/98 for $150, after some other parts(trans./x-member/wiring/driveshaft), i'm into for about a grand(not counting the cost to purchase the car). that makes paying to rebuild any 350 hard to justify, and a 455 in any form(hi/higher compression), puts out some power. plus if you run out of motivation along the line, a 455 is easy to sell and get your money out of it.
