my 84 944 appears to be leaking oil @ the oil filter adapter/cooler is this a big task to resolve
with gaskets and seal replacements my mechanic claims it about a 5 hour job
Sounds about right. It's not that many bolts, but it gets tricky trying to work around the exhaust manifold. I would say it is possible for the backyard mechanic, but go into it with the mindset that it will be a frustrating 5 hours.
I personally would rather pay someone several hundred dollars than do this job, its not so much fun
not a bad job, just remove oil filter, remove the bolts pull out clean off old gasket replace bolt back up,tourk bolts to 15 inch lbs, replace with new oil and filter.
It's a big job. I did it and it took to me 6 hours. If you want the piece, buy it on ebay because it cost 35$ for all the kit and if you go to Porsche, it cost 100$$. Good luck
you know how to do the job,it is not hard.
Yes I did it on mine. The problem with this job is that you don't have a lot of place to remove the oil cooler and it's not easy to clean the old gasket on the motor.
