I have a 68 Le mans 2 door post that motor was
replaced.Can I replace it with original?and how do I
find the right number to replace with it now has a
72 400 now
The Vin number will tell you what size engine that car was produced with. Go on line and do a google search for old vin search...
Thank you I will do that would that give me pefix # for engine I know that it came with a 350 4 bbl by year
Yep - 68 saw the shift to 2 versions of the basic 350; a 4 barrel and a 2 barrel version. Also offered was a 230 CID, in-line 6. Sounds like you already solved your problem if you know it originally had a 350 4 barrel. Putting one back in should not be a problem provided the owner that swapped the original out did not alter the engine mounts.
Thanks . Would the new 350 need to have a special number prefix. I would also like to thank all that have provided info. I have a lot of ground work to do .as for the car my dad bought the car new and gave it to me as a teen you know how that goes
