1987 dodge D150 engine cranks but won't run

To help narrow it down to either fuel or ignition try this procedure. While someone is cranking the engine spray a little starting fluid into intake. If the engine runs momentarily you have fuel system problems. If engine still doesn't run you have ignition problems.

i found out that the interruptor blade plate broke lose under the hall effect pick up inside the distributer housing , i just replace the whole unit that i found in the scrap yard , my dakota is running fine again. Hope this helps somebody good luck...
