1995 Saturn SL won't shift out of park and has no brake lights.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car will start, but will not shift out of park.  All lights are working except brake lights.  Checked and all fuses are good.  Is it possible that it is the neutral safety switch?  Anyone have any other ideas?

is a good place to start or shifter lock is broken.

Neutral safety switch would not allow the car to start if defective. You could have it checked but in most cases the neutral safety switch failure is a no-start issue. Sounds like the shifter lock to me.

I have a 2001 Saturn with the same problem! What did you do to fix it? Thanks, Ty tyrobert@arinc.com
