It is about my 1997 saturn S series

It is a 4 speed automatic and on the right
side of my shifter it has a button on it, and I
don't know what it is

It is ur overdrive on and off button, more than likely.

After at about 55 mph. But its probably already on, u will have a indicator in ur dash with ur dash lights telling u , it will say ,usually in orange lightig O/D off or O/D on.

It's not over drive.. it's a performance shifting button. When it's clicked on perf it will just shift faster
