Gran turismo Omologato. Italian means "car made for racing but acceptable on the street.

Gran Turismo Omologato means Grand Touring Homologated, meaning certified as Grand Touring by FIA(Federation Internationale d'Automobile). Some chided Pontiac for using the same name as the thoroughbred sports car Ferrari 250 GTO. Pontiac never submitted the GTO to FIA for certification. Neither did Ferrari.
