Your best bet for that year engine would be to Google a non winter state salvage yard that is closest to you. For example, if you type in Arizona salvage yards, a long list will come up. You can either call or email them. They will tell you if they have one available and how much it will cost to ship.

Reelin68 has a good answer. I have a '76 w/390, same block, there are a ton of them used or short-block or long-block rebuilt

Or you can hit up Ebay and buy an entire rebuild kit for around $350. Then you will have to decide if it's cheaper to have it rebuilt or get the salvage yard engine.

And they are EASY to work on, no ECU, no modern electronic crap, and mine has no mechanical breaker points. Might even think about an Edelbrock intake and a 600cfm Holley 4 bbl carb As of this year even in Calif they don't have to be smogged . Under $100 shipping
